Oscar B. Alvis, Jr., born on February 6, 1928, in Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Oscar was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Oscar B. Alvis, Sr. and Mable Fugate Alvis; his wonderful wife, Marian Cunningham Alvis; brother, Richard Alvis; sisters, Louise Alvis Dickson and Delores Alvis Perkins.
Those left to cherish Oscar's memory are his special friend, Denise Brown Turner; sister, Georgia Alvis King; many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, November 18, 2024, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Kenneth Calvert officiating.
Military Rites will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Oak Hill Mausoleum I and will be under the direction of the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.
The care of Oscar B. Alvis, Jr. and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Oscar Alvis . Oscar was among the first friends I met when we moved to Fort Henry Arms Condominiums. I enjoyed our conversations . Thanks for the memories and rest in peace.

Oscar is going to be missed very much. He was a sweet man and was always kind to me and Stephen. We never forgot about that. There´s times he helped us out when we needed it. Rest in peace Oscar, our friend we know you´re in heaven and in a better place, we love you
