Pamela Ruth Murphy Carter was born in Durham, NC on May 16, 1929. She passed away quietly on September 27, 2023. Pamela was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Preston Murphy. The family soon moved to Damascus, VA where Mr. Murphy started the Damascus Hosiery Mill.
Pamela attended Radford College. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Edward Kent Carter.
They established their home, 2200 Pendragon Rd., Kingsport, TN when Kent accepted his job at Holston Valley Hospital. The home on Pendragon Road became the center of the universe for the Carter family and many others.
Pam and Kent had three children, Preston Kelly Carter, Dudley Ann Carter and Duane Craighill Carter. As the years when on, Pam and Kent welcomed Preston's wife, Rhonda, Dudley's husband, Michael and Craighill's wife, Kelly. Six grandchildren followed, Landon, Mackenzie and Wyatt Breeding, Cameron and Carson Carter and Aidan Carter. Eight great-grandchildren had the privilege of sharing their Mimi's love. Their Mimi is now sharing eternity with the loves of her life, Kent and precious son, Craig.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery, with Pastor Ryan Shaffer officiating.
