Patricia Summers Obituary
June 3, 2025
Patricia Mickelson Summers, 69, passed away peacefully at Holston Valley Medical Center June 3, 2025.
She was born in Newark, Ohio to Ivan and Phyllis Mickelson and grew up in Tiffin, Ohio. Patricia attended Ohio State University, then Mount Carmel Medical Center Nursing School where she became a Registered Nurse.
She met and married Jeffrey Summers and they relocated from Columbus to Rochester, NY. There she was a nurse, Sunday School teacher, and was involved with Community Bible Study.
In 2000, she relocated to Kingsport where she explored a variety of interests including soccer coach, high school soccer referee, Red Cross volunteer, and worked as a nurse for Friends In Need and Providence Medical Clinic.
Her arthritis eventually hampered her indomitable spirit but her love and devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren never wavered.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Jeffrey of the home; children, Jennifer Summers of Wilmington, NC, Nathan Summers (Erica) of Memphis, and Laura (Kent) Oglesby of Knoxville; as well as grandchildren, Jacob and Julie of Memphis; sisters, Kathy Wurm of Oregon, and Debbie (Katy Mcky) of Maine.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Higher Ground Baptist Church, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665.
A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jason Dowdell officiating. Music will be provided by Becky Tester.
A reception will follow the Memorial Service in the HGBC Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Gideons International would be appreciated.

Just had opportunity to talk with Pat Sunday before last. Sweet lady. So thankful for the opportunity. May God comfort each of you that loved her so much. Glad it is absent in body and present with the Lord.
