Patricia Wolford Obituary
October 15, 2024
Patricia Abbott Wolford, 89, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Patricia, born in 1935 in Missouri, was a longtime resident of Kingsport, TN, moving here with her family when she was five years old.
Patricia graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1953.
While working at J.T Parker Insurance during her summer breaks from East Tennessee State College, she met the love of her life, Don Wolford. They were married for 63 years until his passing in 2020 and are now reunited together, with Christ for eternity.
Patricia was employed by the Kingsport City School System for many years as a typing and business teacher.
She attended Northeast Church of Christ.
Along with Don, she enjoyed fishing, golfing, bridge, and traveling, especially to Hilton Head and cruises to many different places.
She especially loved spending time and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Don Wolford; and her sister, Betty Cooper.
She is survived by her son, David Wolford (Amy); daughter, Donna Jones (Kirk); grandchildren, Steven Jones (Stephanie), Krista Babel (AJ), Jessica Killilea (Daniel), Taylor Wolford (Katelyn), Hannah Casey (Caleb), Halle Wolford; eight great- grandchildren; niece, Linda Rochester; and nephew, John Cooper (Lynne).
A special thank you to all her caretakers and nurses at The Waters of Kingsport who took very good care of her during her later years and made her feel special and loved during her time there.
A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Section B. Minister Jay Cline will officiate. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to support the hurricane and flooding victims, or a charity of your choosing.
