Peggy Townzen Obituary

Peggy Townzen, loving mother, sister, friend, and community volunteer passed away peacefully at her home in Colusa on January 18.

Peggy was born on May 1, 1942 in Gridley, California before moving to Colusa in the sixth grade. She was one of three children of Earnest and LaRene Baker. After graduating from Colusa High School, she attended Chico State University. It was during this time that Peggy met Dale Townzen at the Colusa library, to whom she was married for over 50 years until his passing. Peggy dedicated many years of service to the Colusa branch of the Colusa County Library, where she pursued her passion for books and reading.

Following her retirement from the Library, Peggy dedicated much of her time to gardening and traveling extensively with friends, children, and grandchildren. She actively participated in various community organizations, including the Colusa Garden Club, the Colusa County Friends of the Library, and the First Presbyterian Church of Colusa.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Dale; her parents, Earnest and LaRene Baker; and her brother, Jim. She is survived by her brother, Dave (Leuan); her sons, Darren (Julie) and Patrick (Jaime); her daughter, Cammie (Rob); her grandchildren, Paige Myer (Zach), Alek Simpson, Mollie Smith (Tristan), Sophie Simpson, Danielle Townzen, and Karlyn Townzen; and her great-grandchildren, Jetson Myer and Annabelle Myer.
