Philis Bishop Obituary
KINGSPORT - Philis Darnell Bishop 83, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2023. She was born in Slant, Virginia to the late Willie and Ila Darnell. Philis was of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a loving mother, nannie, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bishop and her grandson, Greg Bishop.
Survivors include her son, Mike Bishop and wife Teresa; daughter, Cindy Howington and husband Larry; grandchildren, Tyler Bishop and wife Jasmine, Allen Tipton and wife Victoria, Bethany Tipton, McKenzie Howington, and MaKayla Howington; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Junior, Jerry, and Charles Darnell; sisters, Geneva Stidham and Carolyn Spivey; along with a host of friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Richard Sego officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30am to go in procession to the cemetery.
