Phyllis McPhetridge Obituary

Christine McPhetridge

June 6, 1943 -

April 17, 2025

KINGSPORT - Christine McPhetridge, age 81 of Kingsport, passed away on April 17, 2025. Christine was born on June 6, 1943, in Bluff City, Tn to Issac A. Wassom and Ruth Royston Wassom. Christine worked as a teacher and later a guidance counselor for Colonial Heights Middle School.

Christine and her late husband Mack were active in several car clubs where they had lots of adventures and enjoyed meeting new friends and enthusiasts through First TN Regional Mustang Club, First TN Restorer's Club, Antique Automobile Club of America, and the National Model A Restorers Club of America.

Fittingly, she passed away on Maundy Thursday which marks service to others and the commandment to love one another. She faithfully and willingly cared for both her mother and mother-in-law in their final years.

Christine will be remembered for her love of family, friends, cats, and horses. We will all miss her dearly.

She is survived by her daughter Lori Parsons; son-in-law Nick Parsons; and granddaughter Natalie Parsons.

In remembrance, please donate to a charity of your choice.

As Christine requested there will be no funeral services. However, you are cordially invited to attend a brief graveside service on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at the mausoleum in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

She was a beautiful, caring lady, and I was blessed to know her in my younger days. Not so many leave such kind, and helpful memories in one's like, but she did mine. Rest in peace. Amen

Chris was like a sister and best friend for the first 17 years of our lives, sharing the same activities, classes and life at church and school. She made a significant difference in our lives.

Christine was one of the prettiest, sweetest and Godliest girls to have come out of Chinquapin Grove.

My prayer is that her family will know the same Grace, Mercy, Comfort and Peace that we found in Jesus Christ many years ago.

My teacher at Colonial Heights, she called me, Hush, Hush sweet Charlotte. She was so excited with her honeymoon to Hawaii and I wanted to go after she told how beautiful and showed pictures. My dream came true a few years ago when my husband, daughter and I traveled to Hawaii. She was a great teacher.
