CHURCH HILL - Ranny Leon Troxell, age 79, of Church Hill, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2025, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family as he went home to our Lord.
Ranny was born in Elizabethton, TN on May 1, 1946.
A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Ranny attended Faith Assembly Church in Rogersville, TN.
Ranny was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Troxell; brother Bobby Troxell; sisters Billie Dean Garber and Teresa Adams; and stepdaughter Judy Linkous.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley Linkous Troxell of Church Hill, TN; sister and special brother-in-law, Brenda and Butch Tomisin of Blountville, TN; daughters, Sharon Dietrick (Carl) and Tina Rodgers (Scott), both of Jacksonville, FL; son, Andy Troxell (Danielle) of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Brandi, Katie and Avery; great grandson, Nick; stepsons, Billy Ray Linkous (Frances), Bryan Linkous, and Mike Linkous; several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 23, 2025, from 6:00-7:00 pm at Faith Assembly, 106 Blevins Road, Rogersville, TN 37857.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Billy Ray Courtney and Pastor Billy Ray Linkous officiating. A eulogy will be delivered by John Bacon. Music will be provided by Ed Koerner, Alicia Hagreen, and Dennis Garber. To conclude the service, taps will be played by Roger Woods.
Military Graveside Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. Honors will be provided by The American Legion Hammond Posts #3/#265.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Legion Hammond Post 3/265, Kingsport/Gate City, P.O. Box 66, Kingsport. TN 37662.
