Ray Bingham

April 3, 2025

Ray William Bingham, 97, passed away on April 3, 2025, in Kingsport, TN. Born on September 25, 1927, Ray's life was marked by a deep devotion to his family, a passionate engagement with his interests, and a long-standing commitment to his community.

Ray graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and later dedicated many years to Tennessee Eastman Company as a Systems Analyst before retiring. His military service in the U.S. Army was a proud chapter in his life, reflecting his dedication and discipline.

A man of faith, Ray was an active member of Preston Hills Presbyterian Church. He found great joy in his spiritual community and contributed much to the congregation.

In his leisure, Ray was an enthusiastic member of the GMC Dixielander Club, exploring North America in his beloved GMC motorhome. This hobby was not just a pastime but a significant aspect of his life, especially cherished memories made with his late wife, Trula.

Ray is survived by his son, Mike Bingham (Diane); daughter, Patti Satterfield (Larry); grandsons, Brett Satterfield, Christopher Bingham (MacKenzie), and Blake Bingham (Carlie); great-grandson, Kirk Bingham; nephew, Steve Bingham (Phyllis); and niece, Julie Ellis-Behnke (Rutledge). He was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Bingham; sister, Jo Ellis; and brother, Eugene Bingham.

Entombment services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Preston Hills Presbyterian Church, 4701 Orebank Road, Kingsport, TN 37664, honoring Ray's memory and his contributions to his place of worship.

Great man. As a teenager, Ray and my dad, Earl, we're friends and coworkers at Eastman. I remember Ray coming over to the house to buy a 1957 Jawa 350 street motorcycle my dad owned. I wonder if that bike is still in the family? God bless Ray and his family. --David Farrar (DB class of 72)
