Ricky Wade Shupe

September 6, 1959 - February 1, 2026

Ricky Wade Shupe of Kingsport, TN, 66, entered the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, in Kingsport, TN.

Ricky grew up in Clinchport, VA, and Kingsport, TN, where he attended Dobyns-Bennett High School.

He served 2 tours in the United States Navy, and was very proud of his service.

After military service he worked for the United States Postal Service, completed Chef school in Providence, Rhode Island and worked as a Chef in Rhode Island and Kingsport, TN, finishing his working career installing hardwood floors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Helen C. (Begley) Shupe, Gearld L. Shupe; sister Marsha Ann, and brothers Dannie, James, and Lawrence,

Survivors include his sister, Myrtle (Shupe) Barnett of Kingsport; brothers, Phillip and wife Roseanna, Dwight David, Randall and wife Connie, all of Kingsport; mother of his child Jan Corbett, Rhode Island; children Maximilian Shupe, Columbus, OH; stepchildren Melissa Corbett of Rhode Island and Jenni Corbett Petit of Florida; nieces, Jennifer Crawford, Stephanie Harbin, Kimberly Thomas, Jessica Shupe, Amber Williams; nephews Chris Shupe, Scott Shupe, Tim Barnett, Chad Barnett; longtime close friend and caregiver Dwana Burchett, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ricky will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing his kind and generous soul. He never met a stranger and would happily give his last possession to anyone in need. While we mourn the loss of such a caring father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and most of all friend, we cherish the time with him, and are thankful for his life with us. He truly loved God, his family, and his Tennessee Volunteers.

While his time on earth seems too short, those touched by his kindness, caring, and giving spirit know the quality of his love and existence far surpasses the quantity of time he lived.

Graveside Service will be held at Bethel Church Cemetery, across Shipley Ferry Rd from Bethel World Methodist Church, on a date to be determined.
