Robert L. "Bob" Murray March 8, 1938- April 20, 2024
KINGSPORT - Robert L. "Bob" Murray, 86, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Bob was a long-standing member of Tipton's Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing. Bob was a happy man and always had nice things to say to people to make them smile. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was born on March 8, 1938 in Brainard, MN, a son of the late Ralph and Geneva (Enlow) Murray. Bob was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Murray on September 29, 2016.
Surviving are his daughter, Marcia Marcum; son, Dean Murray; grandchildren, Cara Murray, Clay Murray, Jordan Marcum (Savannah) and Rylei Burgmann; great-grandson, Eli Marcum; sisters, Rita, Denise, and Barbara; brothers, Dewayne and Ronnie; sister-in-law, Geneva Tipton and husband Joe; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Scott County Funeral Home and anytime at his residence. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Joe Roberts and Rev. Adam Roberts officiating. Music will be provided by Linda Knight and the Tipton Family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Tipton's Chapel Cemetery, Manville Ridge, Gate City, VA. Everyone is welcome to gather at 12:50 pm at the cemetery for the service.
