CHURCH HILL - Shelby DeFreece Greear, age 83, of Church Hill, passed away, Sunday, June 1, 2025. Shelby was born September 9, 1941 and grew up in the Bloomingdale Community. She graduated from Ketron High School Class of 1959. Shelby's first and only job was at Holston Valley Hospital where she had many friends and a career spanning 42 years. She loved her home and always had beautiful flowers. Shelby was devoted to her husband, and her precious Yorkies. She was loving sister, aunt, and great-aunt. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Clarence Greear; parents, Charlie and Mary Ruth DeFreece; brother, Charlie DeFreece, Jr.; special aunt and uncle, Ruby and Joe Moneyhun; beloved Yorkie, Maggie.

She is survived by her sisters, Brenda Doran of Elizabethton, Carolyn Layne of Hickory, NC; brother, Gary DeFreece of Kingsport; special niece, Angie Flowers of Hickory, NC; several nieces and nephews; step-daughters, Glenda Woods and husband, Jack, Rebecca Million; step-son, Darrell Greear and wife, Rhonda all of Church Hill. A special thank you to Becky of Superior Health Care.

Her wishes were to have no formal services.
