Sherry Diane Alley (Vaughn) Sawyer

DUFFIELD, VA - Sherry Diane Alley (Vaughn) Sawyer, 66, of the Mabe/Stanleytown community, Duffield, VA, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 17, 2025, at her residence with her best friend and companion, Gordee, by her side.

She was a faithful and devoted member of Durhams Chapel Church. She was an avid music lover and enjoyed playing piano and her autoharp. She was considered a simple person and enjoyed spending time at home with a tremendous love for her faith and family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Alley; father of her children, Jerry Vaughn, Sr.; and husband, Charles Travis Sawyer.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Jerroline Owens Alley Douthat (Gene), Kingsport, TN; son, Jerry Vaughn, Jr., "Mickey" (Cindy), Fort Blackmore, VA; daughter, Tesha Vaughn, Knoxville, TN; one sister, Robin Alley Madden (James), Kingsport, TN; two grandchildren, Jalen and Keila Vaughn (Payton Ball), Fort Blackmore, VA; two nephews, Logan Madden (Katy), Kingsport, TN, and Dustin Madden (Danielle), Bristol; one great nephew, Quentin Madden; and many other loving friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 10-12p.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 12:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Terry Rhoton and Ray Dockery officiating. Chad Jones with Joyful Journey will provide the music.

Graveside services will follow at the McNew Cemetery, in the Mabe/Stanleytown Community, Duffield, VA.

Derrick Owens, Leon Kern, Jalen Vaughn, Dustin Madden, Logan Madden, Kip Kern, and Payton Ball will serve as pallbearers. James Perry, Dennis Carden, Bobby Bowen, Rick Kincer, Dexter Owens, Rex Owens, Bufford Salling, and Edd Jennings will serve as honorary pallbearers.
