Shirley Housewright Calton Helton January 20, 1936- May 21, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Shirley Housewright Calton Helton, age 88, passed away at her home on May 21, 2024.
She was of the Baptist faith, and she retired from Hawkins County Press as a quality Control Inspector. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to all. Her real enjoyment was spoiling her great grandson, Steven.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hal and Johnnie Housewright; husband, William E. Calton Jr.; second husband, Frank Helton; brothers, Jack (Bonnie) Housewright, Neal (Susie) Housewright; and her son-in-law, Steven C. Harrell.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Harrell; son-in-law, Clark A. Brotherton, grandson, Jon Harrell (Ashley); great-grandson, Steven B. Harrell; nieces, Kathy Minnis (David), and Connie Bartley; nephew, Jack Housewright Jr.; several great nieces and nephews; step-grandson, Bobby Brotherton; step-great grandson, Jacob Brotherton; special friend and sister-in-law, Faye (Thurman) Viers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Shafer, Amedysis Hospice, especially Megan, Felisha, Brenda, and Teresa for their love and care of Mom, and the staff of Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Terry Mellons officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Old Union Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers will be, Jon Harrell, Ricky Housewright, Paul Housewright, Darrell Woods, Mike Barrett, and Will Christian. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Larry Housewright.
