Shirley Joyce Walters April 2, 2024 KINGSPORT - Shirley Joyce Walters, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Shirley was a loving and supportive wife, loyal servant to her church, New Covenant Pentecostal Church, where her husband pastored for over 30 years. She devoted her life to her husband, her family and her church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Rev. John B. Walters; parents, Marion and Georgia Pleasant; sister, Linda Oaks; brother, Tommy Pleasant; and son-in-law, Steve Costella.
Shirley will be deeply missed by son, Johnny Walters (Gwen); daughters, Rhonda Costella and Moretta Cretsinger; grandchildren, Cristy Eagan (Bobby), Joshua Phillips, Chris Walters (Heather), Jennifer Bolling (Alex), Caleb Phillips, Bobby Walters and Jonathan Costella; great-grandchildren, Jasper, Isla, Kaitlyn, Brayden, Sarah Jane, Benjamin, Emersyn, Hudson, Freya, Lil B and Kylea; siblings, Joan Mickelson and Helen Hall (Virgil); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12:00-2:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Costella, Ted Collins, Caleb Phillips, Alex Bolling, Bobby Eagan, Brayden Eagan. Honorary pallbearers are Chris and Bobby Walters.
