KINGSPORT – Steven Preston (Steve) Carriger, 73, passed away on January 23, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Richard and Sylvia Rose Carriger.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Taylor Carriger; his son, Steve (Jessica) Carriger; his daughter, Stephanie (Ryan) Toney; two most precious grandchildren, Henry and Landry Kate Toney; brothers, Phil (Karyn), Larry and David Carriger; 2 nephews and 3 nieces; several cousins and many good friends.
Steve was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church and of the Gate City Masonic Lodge. He loved woodworking and fishing. He taught in Scott County Schools for more than 30 years.
Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Randy Lance at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
