Susan Ramiro Asuncion

1951 - 2024

Susan Ramiro Asuncion, loving sister, cousin and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones in the early morning on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Susan, also affectionately known as "Baby", was born on August 11, 1951, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Asuncion, Sr. and Teresita Ramiro Asuncion, and her youngest brother, Hilario. She is survived by her brother Jose Jr. from Carson, California.

Susan completed her education in the Philippines, graduating from Divine Word College in Laoag City with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She was employed as Secretary to the Mayor of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte for 11 years, then held the position of Assistant Election Registrar for 15 years before immigrating to the United States in 1995, where she called Santa Maria, California, "home". She became a U.S. Citizen in December of 2002.

She was most notably recognized for her singing talent. At the age of 15, she was a well-known recording artist in the Ilocos Region and sang with the Golden Voice and Acapella Singers. She had a rich, soulful voice that captivated listeners. She sung both in her native Ilocano language and English, and her song choices embodied her deep faith and love of God.

Susan had a generous, loving and kind spirit that will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024; followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Louis deMontfort Church. Interment will follow in the original section of the Santa Maria Cemetery.
