Susan Elizabeth Griffith Davis, b. June 21st, 1955, entered into glory on Sunday, January 28th, 2024, reflecting the glorious faith that was her life. Surrounded in love and worship by her husband of 44 years, Mark Owen Davis (m. 1980, Cleveland, OH), and their three children, Kendra (Matthew) Andrus, Heather Davis, and Paul Davis, she was sung and prayed into our Lord's presence. She was intimately invested in the lives of her "grandjoys" – grandchildren, Willow, Wilder, Chapel, Aria, Arow, and EdenPearl Andrus; and Haven and Harper Davis. Susan was the eldest child of Lt. Col. Joseph Kenneth Griffith, III and Margaret Dillon Griffith. She is survived by her siblings Dr. Sharon Griffith Stern, Firth (Xiao-Li) Griffith, Frank (Jane) Griffith, and Andrea (John) Deshaye.
Susan was an accomplished professional symphonic cellist, who also served throughout her life as a children's librarian, financial officer, administrative and IT director, and most profoundly, wife and Mommie and Gramama to her beloved family. She was the musical and spiritual helpmate to her husband, Mark, in his life as a musician and conductor of touring college choirs for twenty years, earning her the title "choir mom" to hundreds of adoring students. She has continued as soulmate in Mark's music ministry, and as a member, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, TN since 2006.
A significant memorial worship service of music and celebration will be planned and announced in the coming spring. Further details and a more extensive narrative of Susan's life may be found on the website of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN.

Mark, Heather, Paul, and Kendra. Again, words cannot even begin to express how sad myself and many of the "concert choir" family feel at this immense time of loss. I was so glad to hear that you were by her side singing and praying her into Heaven. She was truly a blessing to us all. I will be thinking and praying for you all in the days and weeks to come. Be at peace and know that regardless of the miles between us, you are surrounded by our love. Stefan Beittel, Raleigh, NC. (Marietta College '94)
