ROGERSVILLE - Thomas Jette Bundy, Sr., 90, of Rogersville, Tennessee passed away on October 7, 2023, after years-long declining health.
Tom was born on September 3, 1933, in Lebanon, Virginia where he was loved and raised by his father Paul Bundy, grandmother May Bundy and beloved aunt Jessee Hargis.
After graduating from Lebanon High School in 1951, he studied at Virginia Tech, Bluefield College, and Auburn University before graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in agriculture.
After college, Tom worked for the UT Institute of Agriculture as County Extension Agent in Hawkins County, Tennessee, eventually retiring with the title of County Extension Leader. Tom loved his work and served the people of Hawkins County and beyond for more than 30 years.
As a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Tom served in various roles at First United Methodist Church in Rogersville. It was there that he accepted and began following in faith his Savior Jesus Christ.
An avid traveler, Tom enjoyed organizing and leading group trips to various national and international locations. From these trips, he gathered and told many stories that delighted his family, friends, and acquaintances.
Tom was preceded in death by wife Miriam Metzger Bundy, wife Beryl Greene Bundy, grandson Thomas Jette Bundy III (Amy), and half-sister Catherine "Kitty" Lambeth (Henry).
He is survived by his daughter Miriam Caroline Bundy (Rennie Richardson) of Portsmouth, Virginia and son Thomas Jette Bundy, Jr. (Sherry) of Clinton, Tennessee, granddaughter Jessee Elizabeth Bundy of Knoxville, Tennessee, grandson Benjamin Paul Schoenfeld (Tracy) of Norfolk, Virginia, and granddaughter Abby Caroline Schoenfeld of Richmond, Virginia.
Receiving friends will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Rogersville First United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Rogersville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Elaine Ruth officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rogersville First United Methodist Church, 110 Colonial Rd., Rogersville, TN. 37857
