Springfield- Thomas L. “PopPop” Corridan passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, at the age of 91. He was born and raised in Chicopee, the youngest child of Michael and Frances (O’Connell) Corridan. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jean Mary Smith, Barbara Hemond, Frances Gallagher, James Corridan, William Corridan, and Fe Rose Corridan. He leaves his loving wife of fifty-five years, Margaret (McKenna) Corridan, his sons, John and daughter-in-law Jennifer, and Christopher and daughter-in-law Toni, three grandchildren, Emma, Cara, and Hannah, and dozens of nephews, nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces. Alongside his father and his brothers, Tom developed valuable plumbing and mechanical skills, and he used those talents to help everyone around him, often asking for nothing in return. He worked for forty years in the engineering department of Baystate Medical Center, making hundreds of friends and bringing happiness to countless lives. Before starting his own family, Tom would spoil his many nieces and nephews with outrageous adventures. As a father and husband, there was absolutely no limit to what he would do to bring joy and laughter to his wife and children. Tom was originally a communicant of Holy Name Church in Chicopee, then at Our Lady of Hope and more recently, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, in Springfield. He had fond memories of the time he spent in the United States National Guard. He enjoyed military history and stories of the old west. He loved his vacations to Cape Cod and taking care of his pet dogs. Tom felt blessed to have such wonderful and supportive neighbors, but more than anything else, he loved celebrating life’s happiest moments with his family. Funeral services for Tom will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025. Friends and family are invited to meet directly at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield, for a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00pm, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s name can be made to the TJ O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center, 627 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104, or to any pro-life charitable organization. Sorrowful thoughts filled my heart when I read about Tom´s passing. My memories of Tom go back a long way. He was a great man. When you married him, Peggy, I knew you hit the jackpot. And the eulogy given by his son was most fitting. Find comfort in knowing he brought happiness to so many people. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I worked with Tom at Baystate for many years, and we got to be good friends. He always had a good attitude toward everything. He was a great storyteller and would keep you guessing how his story might end. Whenever you had a problem he was there to help you out as soon as he could be there. My thoughts and prayers go out to Margaret,
John and Christopher and their families at this time.
Tom was a friend to everyone he met. May he rest in peace.

I worked with Tom for 15 years in Engineering at Baystate Medical Center. He was a gentleman who showed only kindness to all who knew him. I'll miss you, Tom, but thank you for many happy memories.

Deepest Condolences from the Shea family. Tommy pulled more Sesame Street toys from my parents drain than I care to admit. He was a lovely man. Prayers to your family from ours.

Lots of Irish sayings come to mind but not sure they fit for such a unique individual. Uncle Tom was always curious, wanting to know what's going on and interested in whatever one was up to. A lifelong tinkerer, he always seemed to have some scheme or project going on. He lived a full life and clearly loved family, unfortunately he never seemed to be able to get to a family function on time! We blamed it on Auntie Peggy, but Uncle Tom always made sure to take the best care of her so maybe it was him cutting her a break. So happy to have him as part of my life and wishing him peace and comfort on the other side.
