Thomas Shipley Obituary
September 29, 1949 – March 25, 2024
HARTFIELD, VA - Thomas Lee Shipley, 74, passed peacefully at his home in Hartfield, VA, on March 25, 2024. Thomas was born in Tampa, FL and moved to the Kingsport area his senior year of high school. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1968 and served for 7 years before moving to Cleveland, TN with his young family. Thomas lived a full life and was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Eli and Lillie Juanita (Jones) Shipley. He is survived by his wife, Lee Paulette (Phillips) Shipley; daughter, Amare Lea (Shipley) Merz; former son-in-law, Walter Eliott Merz, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Eli & Jennifer Graf Shipley; grandsons, Walter Edward Merz & Alexander Lee Merz; brother, Michael Paul Shipley; sister & brother-in-law, Susan Loretta (Shipley) & Mark Diddle; and many other family members.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
