Thomas Micheal Shockley April 21, 1967- May 5, 2024
Thomas was born in Norton, VA to Bobby and Sharon Shockley on April 21, 1967. On May 5, 2024, he closed his eyes on Earth and opened them up in Heaven. He graduated from Sullivan North High in 1986. Thomas married his soulmate, Tonya (Laws) Shockley on November 5, 1994. He worked several places over the years, most recently being Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital Dietary Department, for 17 years, Sodexo (food service contractor for Eastman) for 6 1/2 years and Partners Industrial for the last year. Thomas grew up in Holy Mountain Baptist Church and attended Belvue Christian, Oakwood Forest Christian Church, Grace Covenant Church which merged into Grace Christian Church, until he went back home and rejoined Holy Mountain in 2022. He had several hobbies and interests over the years, including listening to police scanners, fishing, tinkering with electronics, collecting guns and guitars, listening to Southern Gospel music, and attending Gaither concerts. Thomas loved UT football and rooted for the Chicago Bears for almost 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Bertie Shockley; and several aunts and uncles.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Tonya Laws Shockley; parents; Bobby and Sharon Shockley; brother, Bobby Shockley; sister-in-law, Shirley; two nieces, Chloe and Ella Shockley
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Holy Mountain Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Tim Price, Brother Robert Fletcher, and Brother Ed Clevinger officiating, and special music will be provided by Charles Hickman.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens, in the Garden of Devotion. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45am.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hensley, Dennis Neeley, Tim Price, Brandon Smith, Jakub Stewart and Barney Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Bostrum, Gary Frady, Allan Gilliam, Glen Pecktol, Brian Quesenberry, Jason Simpson, Chris Smith and Paul Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Mountain Baptist Church, Giving Hearts Ministry 3121 Ashley St., Kingsport, TN 37664, c/o Capital Campaign or Giving Hearts Ministry.

Dear Bobby and Sharon, we miss you very much. I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing Sidney two years ago was hard and I know the pain of losing you son must be so much harder. Call me sometime if you feel up to talking.
