NICKELSVILLE, VA - Tommy Ray Darnell, Jr., 54, Nickelsville, VA passed away, unexpectedly Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Tommy was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and a friend to all. Donna and Tommy were happily married for 33 years. He was a loyal Sales Rep for Berry Home Center for 20 plus years, and a member of Meade's Chapel Church, Nickelsville, VA.
He was an avid hunter and each year looked forward to fall and hunting season with his family.
He was born in Kingsport, TN on July 7, 1969, and was the son of Tommy Ray Darnell, Sr., and the late Carolyn Ann (Summey) Darnell.
In addition to his mother, his daughter, Walana Sage Darnell preceded him in death.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Salyer) Darnell, daughter; Shiloah Meckon Darnell; father, Tommy Ray Darnell, Sr.; sisters, Cathy (Mike) Dorton and Debra Darnell; brothers, Robert (Jennifer) Darnell and Dustin (Lekisha) Darnell; nieces and nephews, Emma Darnell, Jacob Dorton, Camryn Darnell, Nathan Alley, Logan Alley, Sean Butler; along with many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Travis Stapleton and Rev. Wayne Meade officiating. Stafford Statzer will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Salyer - Cox Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at 12:45 p.m. at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Nickelsville Life Saving Crew for all of their efforts.
