Tony Sampson

Tony Sampson, 79, passed away March 19, 2026, at Holston Valley Hospital with his family by his side.

Tony enlisted in the Army in 1966. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, where he received several wartime medals. After receiving his honorable discharge, upon returning home in 1967 he married the love of his life. He then began working for Holliston Mills, where he retired after 38 years.

Tony loved his wife, daughters, sons-in-law (whom he called his sons), granddaughters and great-grandchild on the way, along with his brother and sister, nieces and nephews more than anything in this world.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Bud and Edith Sampson; brother and sister-in-law Buddy and Carolyn Sampson; and brother-in-law Fred Bellamy.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruby Sampson; two daughters Crystal Jones and husband Marty and Levita Wyrick and husband Chris; granddaughters Mikayla Jones and fiancé Blade Hampton, Hailey, Kylie, and Megan Wyrick; and a great-grandchild on the way. Sister Sherry Bellamy; brother Kenny and wife Judy Sampson; sister-in-law Betty Barnett and husband Robert along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home with services to follow at 7:00 pm with Brothers Larry Tolley, Gorman McMurray, and William Bowen officiating. The McMurray Brothers will provide music.

A military graveside service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA at 1:00 pm. With Marty Jones, Chris Wyrick, Bill Bruner, Cody Bruner, James Sampson, Chris Jones, and Blade Hampton serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to St. Jude's, Catron's Chapel Church, or any Veteran connected service of your choice.

Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Sampson family.
