Trixie Ruth Forbes November 6, 1926- June 7, 2024
"Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." John 11: 25-26
Trixie Ruth Forbes, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 7th, 2024, at the age of 97. She was a beautiful person who was deeply loved by all who were blessed to know her.
Trixie was born on November 6, 1926, in Greene County, TN to her late parents, John and Addie Yakley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Forbes; much loved grandson, Austin Smith; beloved son-in-law, Billy Smith; brothers, Cecil, Bert, Willis and Junior Yakley; sisters, Dorothy Conkin and Belva Forbes.
Trixie attended Higher Ground Baptist Church before her declining health. She loved her Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music with her favorite song being "I'll Fly Away".
She was a kind and loving person who always had a smile on her face and welcomed all with open arms. She was always happy to see her family while enjoying a cup of coffee and dipping her snuff. She was a hard worker who persevered through hardship and built a wonderful and special life for herself and her family.
Trixie was a devoted mom and the sweetest "Ma" that ever lived. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than life itself.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Glenn Forbes, Nellie Smith, Teresa Crawford (Mike) and Tammy Martin (Lynn); grandchildren, Billy D. Smith, Debra Hill, Becky Pruitt (Shannon), Amy Roberts (Gene), Tina Smith, Ricky Forbes (Beverlee), Mike Forbes (Jeana), Nikki Bragg (Todd), and Robin Stewart; great grandchildren, Cody, CaLee, Connor, Maela, Billy B., Eli, Waylon, Bailey, Dalton, Hunter, Aleq, Haven, Havoc and Riley; brother, Edward Yakley (Bea); several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service was held Monday, June 10, 2024, at Depew's Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
A special thanks to her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Lynn Martin who provided loving care over the past several years.
The care of Trixie Ruth Forbes and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.

So sorry to hear of MIss Trixie's passing. She was such a sweet lady. I had the privilege of delivering Meals on Wheels to her several years ago until her declining health and she moved in with her daughter. Thought of her often! May God give her family comfort during this time.
