Virginia Godsey Obituary

Virginia (Ginger) Godsey March 12, 1937 - February 26, 2024 GATE CITY, VA - Virginia (Ginger) Godsey died peacefully at the age of 86 in her sleep, in her home on February 26, 2024. Ginger was born in Fresno, CA. and moved to Hanford, CA in 1958 when she married Austin Godsey. In 1973 they bought a house in Gate City. They divided their time between Hanford and Gate City, and in the early 90s after selling their home in Hanford, the Godsey's moved permanently to Gate City. While in Hanford, Ginger was an active member of the Delta Theta Ta Sorority and a past president of the Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary. In Kingsport, Ginger was involved with St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Ginger enjoyed volunteering and being on committees, where she developed many long-standing friendships. Ginger enjoyed playing bridge, reading books, participating in book clubs, having lunch with her friends, and going to plays. She is preceded in death by her husband Austin Godsey, sister Dorothy Hoptkins, and brother Earl Bush. Ginger is survived by her daughter Jamie Godsey Neubert, son Austin Godsey Jr, grandsons Logan and Dylan Neubert as well as four great grandchildren: Emrys, Madoc, Ziggy, and Kaia. Funeral services will be held on Sat. April 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport Tenn. Church reception to follow.
