HILTONS, VA – Wayne Goode, 74, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol. TN.
Wayne was born in Bristol, TN on September 2, 1951, a son of the late Charles T. Goode and Agnes (Tyree) Goode. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles. He was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church for 43 years. Wayne retired as a Safety Officer for VDOT after 37 years of dedicated service.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Carol G. Goode, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Gary Chaffin; grandchildren, Luke Wallen and Braylie Chaffin; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ellen Goode; several uncles, aunts and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Bible Way Baptist Church, 570 Packing House Rd, Kingsport, TN. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Rick Vannoy and Brother Steve Lyons officiating. Music will be provided by Tenida Tomlinson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Spurrier Cemetery, Spurrier Cemetery LN, Hiltons, VA where family and friends are asked to meet at 10:50 am for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Gary Chaffin, Luke Wallen, Jerry Peters, Conner White, Bob Kindle and Mike Moody.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spurrier Cemetery Fund, 4021 Lunsford Mill Rd, Hiltons, VA 24251.

Wayne and I were classmates for 12 years. From Hilton Elementary thru Gate City High. We shared many memories of those days. Wayne will be missed. Prayers for the family.
