Wilbur Bethard Obituary

MOUNT CARMEL - Wilbur "Will" Bethard, age 81, of Mount Carmel, passed away on February 19, 2025.
Will was a native of Salisbury, MD, Will was the son of the late Homer and Hazel Bethard. Will worked in retail as a store manager and field auditor spending most of his career working for Pic N Pay Shoes and retiring in 2000 from Iron Age Safety Shoes. He graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in Salisbury, MD in 1961 and then served four years in the United States Airforce.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ada Johnson; and brother, Dexter Bethard.
Will is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Bethard; daughter, Kimberly Watson (Kevin); sisters, Loretta Perry and Esther Bounds; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in procession to Church Hill Memory Gardens with Pastor Craig Needham officiating.

We are so saddened by the sudden passing of Will. He was the husband of one of my longtime (since childhood) friends, Judy. She & I were young elementary teachers together when she and Will first met. Always quiet & allowing Judy to carry on most of the conversation, he was there for his family & dedicated to their well-being & happiness. Over the years, we had brief visits with Will & Judy. And even though, it was not as often as we would have liked, we can look back on those as good times. We will be praying for Judy & Kim during this time of grief and in the days to come, as well. May God bring you comfort & peace as you cherish the precious memories of your loved one.

I've known Will since we started working together at Iron Age Safety Shoes 35 years ago. I always liked Will, and will definitely miss him. He was always quiet, but liked to joke with me, and I loved seeing him laugh. He was truly a great guy, and he was truly my friend.
