William Brownawell Obituary

William S. Brownawell, 87, of Newville passed away Wednesday February 5, 2025 in his home.

He was born September 14, 1937 in Carlisle a son of the late Edgar F. and Bertha B. Fulton Brownawell.

Bill graduated from the last class of Newville High School in 1955. He had worked at Carlisle Auto Parts, Amp Inc., and retired as a equipment operator on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, he had also worked as a sewer enforcement officer.

He had been a past member, and past Worshipful Master of Masonic lodge F&AM 361, Newville. Bill enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time in nature, hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family, and music especially gospel and blue grass.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Starr Brownawell, two daughters Vicki Johnson and her husband Doug, and Lacey Brownawell. Two step-daughters Denise Nenninger and her husband Gordon, and Kathie Galbraith and her husband Allen, one step-son Steve Jacobs and his wife Teri. Two grandsons Garrett and Drew Johnson, and six step-grandchildren Zachary and Lily Nenninger, and Jessica, Jenna, Jake and John Jacobs; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by two brothers George and Richard Brownawell, and one sister Pauline Heller.

A visitation will be held Friday February 14, 2025 from 1 to 2 PM in the Egger Funeral Home Inc. 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville, PA 17241. A funeral service with Rev. Joey Gibson officiating will be held at 2 PM Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville.
