I´m truly heartbroken over the passing of Nicholas Schork.
When I first arrived at Fort Bliss, he was the very first person who welcomed me in. He wasn´t just friendly - he became my mentor, my brother, and my rock during some of the most stressful times of my life. He helped me find my footing when everything felt overwhelming.
One of the greatest honors I´ve ever had was asking him to pin my Specialist rank on me while we were stationed in South Korea. That moment meant everything to me because of the respect, trust, and love I had for him. I chose him because he was that important in my journey.
It hurts knowing he called me just a few weeks ago. I wish I had more time to hear his voice and tell him how much he meant to me.
Nicholas, thank you for being the steady presence I needed when I was finding my way. You were a real one. You were my brother. I´ll carry you with me always.
Rest easy.

I learned a lot about being successful in the army from Schork. We spent 9 months together in Korea while on rotation. He will be missed
