James Kahl Obituary

James G. Kahl, 73, lifelong resident of Wallingford, passed away, January 20, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Fleischauer) Kahl.
James was born in Meriden on April 18, 1951, son of the late George and Helen (Levack) Kahl. He was a graduate of Horace T. Wilcox Technical H.S. James enjoyed bowling, softball, horseshoes, setback tournaments, and playing the drums. He recently retired after a stellar 53-year career at Stop and Shop. Above all, James was a devoted N.Y. Yankees fan. As the founder of the Men's Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 591, he devoted much of his time to the post. James was the life of the party, first to arrive and the last to leave.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Kahl; his brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Eileen Kahl; his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Buckman and her husband Barry; his sister-in-law, Donna Stasiewski and her husband Glenn; nieces Melissa and Cristine and nephews Daniel and Brandon, as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Kahl; and his brother, George G. Kahl.
James family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, January 27th, from 4 to 6:30p.m. A funeral service will begin at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Gifts in his memory may be made to the charity Saving Paws of Meriden (www.savingpawsct.org).

My sincere and heart felt condolences to Patty, Becky, Milt & Eileen, Dorothy & Barry, Glenn & Donna and Jimmy´s many cousins, nieces and friends. Jimmy was my oldest friend having met 65 years ago on our "Knee-High" baseball team coached by his father. If I´m not mistaken, the team´s name was the Red Sox! Followed by 40 years of playing in a band together with brother Milt, cousins Ray & Glenn, the Walton brothers, George Lees, Horace, Brian, and many other local talent. Tradition, Choice, Band of Brothers. No matter the name, he loved playing music! The thing that I cherished the most was that Jimmy (and Milt, Glenn, George & Dorothy) always treated me as one of the family. This meant a lot to me. I wished I could have been there the last few months. One thing is for certain. James "Jimbo" Kahl was the kindest, most selfless, loving husband, dad, son, brother, & friend there ever was. I will truly miss him. God bless you all. - Murf...
