Dianne Borgen Obituary

Dianne M. Borgen, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and friend to all, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on April 4, 1945, Dianne was daughter to the late James Hardin "Bill" Morgan and Evelyn Long Morgan, and sister to George Morgan. She was born and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the foot of Lookout Mountain. After relocating to Florida she met the love of her life, Jack M. Borgen, who would be her husband of 43 years until his passing in 2015. Jack and Dianne built a happy life together, raising their daughter Jaci as they moved over the years from Tampa and Plantation, Florida, to Matthews, Winston-Salem, and finally Lake Norman, North Carolina, where they enjoyed their retirement.

Dianne is survived by her daughter, Jaci Borgen Wheeler, and grandson, Mason Wheeler, of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her loving family, Denise and Tom Borgen of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; Sheree and Alton Still of Fort Meade, Florida; Jeff and Gayle Borgen of Valrico, Florida; and beloved nieces, nephews, and grandchildren Jennifer Shepper, Melissa Smith, Derek Borgen, Amie Still Love, Jada Borgen, and Garrett Borgen; as well as many good friends she considered family.

Dianne will be remembered for her thoughtful ways, generous nature, and her distinctly Southern sayings, often catching others by surprise with her quick, colorful retorts. She never met a stranger, had a special place in her heart for the elderly, and cultivated deep, lasting friendships. She was fiercely loyal to her loved ones. Dianne adored her husband, Jack, and lovingly referred to him as her boyfriend even after decades of marriage. She was very proud of her daughter, Jaci, but the apple of her eye was her grandson, Mason. Dianne spent her life caring for others, whether her family, friends, or people in need; she had a heart of giving and service. Dianne will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved this kind, caring, one-of-a-kind Southern lady, hailing from Tennessee, building a life with her family in Florida, and ultimately settled in and called North Carolina her home for the last 38 years.

The family would like to thank the amazing nurses of UNC Rex Hospital and Duke Hospitals, who cared for her in her final weeks, and especially the Heartland Hospice angels on earth, who provided such compassionate care in her final days. Please consider supporting your local SPCA or Humane Society in honor of her lifelong love for dogs and rescuing animals.

A Visitation will be held on February 22, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, located at 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC, 27612.
