Angela Adkins Obituary

Angela Adrienne Fain Adkins December 18, 1967- June 3, 2024

Angela Adrienne Fain Adkins, 56, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Monday, June 3rd, 2024.

Angie was born on December 18, 1967, and grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee where she attended Tri-Cities Christian School before going to Franciscan University of Steubenville and graduating from East Tennessee State University with double majors in Communications and Political Science. Angie's true legacy was being a stay-at-home mom and present for her children's first words, steps, milestones, sporting events, and achievements. Her children were the "four loves of her life" and she supported them with unconditional, sacrificial love. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with laughter, baking, and board game challenges. Angie loved the holidays and took pride in her holiday decorations--both inside and outside the house. She especially loved all things Christmas--hosting parties, decorating, and making memories with family. Angie always hosted many events for her children, siblings, family, and friends. Heaven now has a wonderful "Chief Event Planner."

Angie had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. She loved deeply and fiercely, finding joy in life's simple pleasures and making the ordinary extraordinary. Angie had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. She gave her time and energy selflessly, whether through her work at St. Dominic Catholic School, her friendships, or her dedication to family. Her kindness was not just an act but a way of being, reflecting the beautiful person she was.

Angie was a fighter who never gave up and faced her illness with courage and grace, remaining positive and focused on her faith. Even in the toughest moments, she remained hopeful and strong. Though cancer took her from us physically, our memories of her contagious smile, beauty, laughter, and sense of humor will be etched in our hearts forever.

Angie was preceded in death by her father, David A. Fain, Sr.; sister, Gina Fain Rodgers; stepfather, Robert Chaffin; grandparents, Arthur Blaine and Opal (Loveday) Fain, and Thomas Jr. and Kathryn (Huddle) LaGuardia.

She is survived by her mother, Virginia Chaffin of Kingsport, TN; son, Russell Adkins Jr. of Longview, TX; daughter, Magdalene "Maggie" Adkins of Brevard, NC; sons, Joshua and Lucas Adkins of Kingsport, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Carl Green of Chippewa Falls, WI and children, Amelia, William, Daniel, David, and Timothy; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Lemon Williams of Chattanooga, TN and children Mya and Ella; sister, Andrea Fain of Knoxville, TN and children Haleigh, Tyler, Ashleigh, and Amyra; brother, David Fain Jr. of Kingsport, TN and children, Maddax and Mason; brother and sister-in-law, Aaron and Valerie Fain of Kingsport, TN and children, Addisen and Vera; sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Aaron Vogt of Ontario, Canada and children, Devin, Bryson, Brynley, and Maguire, and Jake Strickler of Johnson City, TN; sisters Lauren Fain and Meghan Fain of Greenville, SC.

The family wishes to thank Tennessee Cancer Specialists of Johnson City: Dr. Dharmen Patel, Abbie Harris, NP, and all the wonderful nurses, phlebotomists, and office staff. For over four years, they fought alongside Angie with excellent medical treatment, compassionate care, and faith. Many of them became good friends, and she truly cherished the time spent with them as they helped her fight the biggest battle of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Angie's life will be held on Thursday, June 13th at noon preceded by Rev. Michael Cummins and Deacon Frank Fischer.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church followed by the funeral mass and burial at East Lawn Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at St. Dominic Parish Life Center at 3:30 p.m. following the burial.

Pallbearers will be Russell Adkins Jr., Joshua Adkins, Lucas Adkins, David Fain Jr., Aaron Fain, Brynley Vogt, David Green, and Kevin Quinn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Angie's memory to Project Purple (projectpurple.org), the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org), or her children to help ease the financial burdens of losing a parent (GoFundMe - Join Angie's Fight: Help Her Children).

We treasure your memory as we bid farewell to a soul that graced our lives with a presence that was nothing short of a blessing. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. We are not saying "goodbye," but rather "see you again." We love you, Ang.

Angie comes from a very large family which also includes her many Aunts,Uncles, cousins and friends who all will truely miss her. When I was around 17years of age I was happy and excited not only to be a Aunt again, but to be ask to be Angie´s Godmother by her parents.Angie is also my two children´s Godmother.Angie has always had a special little gleam in her eyes from the day she was born, and when I saw her held her in my arms. Over the years I have mostly stood back and watched her grow into not only loving person but a loving mother. There are forever memorable memories in babysitting her and some of her siblings, all our big family events get togethers, working with her at St.Dominic School ,being and getting together in other circumstances. Always thinking of her and remembering Angie on her birthday and holidays in someway, even as we both grew older and didn´t see or get together as much.Angie fought a long battle with a terrible disease, but now is not hurting anymore and is at peace. My love, thoughts, prayers and God´s blessings for her mother,my sister,Angie´s children and her siblings at this time.

Angie was a friend from when we were in school in St.Dominic´s together and after in CCD. She was a beautiful person then and, of course, in adulthood. When I moved back to Kingsport I´d run into occasionally and she was just as sweet. My prayers are with her family. Heaven has gained a wonderful angel.

Angie, one of my dear nieces.
I´ll never, ever forget the first time I saw, for my first time, tiny you laying in your Moms arms. I remember all the fun times we had when I was babysitting you and your siblings. I remember, with pride, watching you grow up. Ah, the glow in your eyes each time you became a mom!
The past decade has been hard since I haven´t seen you much at all, and especially the past 5 years since my health has stopped me from driving very far.
The happiest part of knowing you is that I know without a doubt that at 2:22 on 6/3/24, you stepped into Heaven!
I love you Angie

Sweet Angie, I´m so sorry to her children and the Fain family for the loss of such a remarkable and genuine woman. I´d loss touch with her after moving from Kingsport but had reconnected ten years ago on Facebook. I recall our super fun CCD trips skiing and the camping, painting houses. She was always such a sweetheart with a great laugh. I tried to get her to come to our last DB class reunion, as we considered her a honorary member. I´m sorry cancer took her so soon. The world would benefit from us all being a little more like her.

Angie and I were cousins who always enjoyed hanging out together, when we were young, at family events, social events and eachother´s home where we loved to watch scary movies. Angie always had a smile on her face. I will miss her very much.
My deepest condolences to the Adkins and Fain family who lost a wonderful mother, daughter, and sister.
I enjoyed reading Angie´s Obituary. It was so nice!
Angie will be missed dearly!!

To the family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending my condolences to the whole family are in my thoughts and prayers. Angie was my cousin but also my godmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. As cousins (her being the older one) the family gatherings are the most missed. However, I got to see her when I worked at St. Dominic Catholic School. And I got to see her when I worked at the restaurants I used to work for because she would bring the kids to eat at. I would run into her at the grocery store too at times. She always had a smile on her face and she will be missed dearly. She always told me she would seen me soon again. Seeing each other was the most important thing that made the day cause a lot of us cousins have gone our own way since the grandparents died.
We would always check on each other once in a while whether by phone or internet. We would always end with love you cause cousin love is special and a special memory in our hearts.
This is not goodbye cousin. I will see you again one day in heaven when it's my turn. The song raises up on eagles wings is a reminder that heaven awaits us all. You are an angel now no longer suffering and watching over everyone of us.
