KINGSPORT - Barbara McCrary Johnson, 79, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Barbara was a graduate of Ketron High School, class of 1962, East Tennessee State University, and Longwood College. Barbara was a dedicated special education teacher, having taught in Virginia and Tennessee. She enjoyed and loved her Boston Terrier dogs.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Violet McCrary; maternal grandparents, Robert and Berta Ritchie; paternal grandparents, John and Versie McCrary.
Survivors include daughters, Monica Lane and husband, Jerry and Cassandra Thacker and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Derek Lane and wife Keisha, Jerica Lane and wife, Kaitlin, Trey Lane and wife, Hannah, Santana Lane and fiancé, Austin Brooks, Daniel Jonas and wife, Jordan, Tori Powers and boyfriend, Charlie Quinn; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Katy, Kinley, Amelia, Sam, Walker, Jackson and River; sisters, Linda Clary and husband, Charles, Jimmie Sue Coats and husband, Bobby, Donna Barron; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 3:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Aaron Noe officiating.
