BLOUNTVILLE - Betty Marie Hicks, 91, of Blountville, was called home late Monday evening, February 24, 2025. She was born in Gate City, VA and lived in Kingsport for most of her life. Betty attended Central Assembly of God. She loved her family and her cats.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Denton and John Hicks, Jr.; son, Doug Denton; sister, Wanda Tankersley; brother, James Tipton; great-grandson, Matthew Mowdy.

Survivors include her daughter, Tonia Lane and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Melanie Spears (Danny), Lorrie Rainwater (Brad), Mandie Walker (Scott), Cody Lane (Bethany); great-grandchildren, Megan Salyer (Colton), Austin Finch, Dalton Spears (Taylor), Madison Mowdy, Trevor Walker, James Walker, Abram Walker, Maddox Walker; great great-grandchildren, Rustin Mowdy, Naomi Mowdy; sister, Mabeline Honaker (Clyde); brother, Ralph Tipton; daughter-in-law, Julia Denton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Phil Kestner officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Cody Lane, Austin Finch, Dalton Spears, Colton Salyer, Danny Spears, Scott Walker. Honorary pallbearer will be Trevor Walker.
