HILTONS, VA – Bill Jones, 84, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.
Born December 22, 1938 to the late Kyle and Leona Jones, Bill was raised in the Nottingham Community. He graduated from Gate City High School.
Early on Bill worked as a sawmill operator and at Eastman. In 1964, Bill married Pat Bralley, and they purchased Enterprise Nursery. Bill did landscaping in the surrounding area and grew plants and produce on his farm. He served 7 years in the Virginia National Guard and for 18 years Bill served on either the Lenowisco Board, Scott County School Board, or Scott County Board of Supervisors.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Leona Jones, 3 sisters and 1 brother. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy Bralley Jones; daughter, Lori Anne Jones; son, Payne Jones (wife Kristie); four grandchildren, who were his delight, Jamie Mullins (husband Chris), Cole Jones, Cash Jones and Claire Jones; brother, Harold Jones.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Scott County Funeral Home with the service at 7:00 pm. Will Shewey will be officiating. Music will be provided by Oscar Harris.
Bill will be laid to rest in a family cemetery in front of his home on 907 Foggy Bottom Lane on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:00 am.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
