KINGSPORT - Bill Henry Lineback, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

He was born August 22, 1946, in Kingsport, to the late Bill and Ruth Whited Lineback.

Bill was a 1964 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and was proud of helping desegregate the student body.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Bill was a member of the first graduating class from Northeast Technical College.

He was a chemical tech in Research & Development at Tennessee Eastman where his team invented microwavable plastic and disposable diapers.

Bill was a member of the Kingsport Life Saving Crew, Warriors Path Volunteer Fire Department, and was an assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 48 and 387. He also served as a medic at Camp Davy Crockett for many years.

He was a combat medic and received the Airman Medal and survived a helicopter crash and enemy confrontation.

Bill was a Master Mason at the Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688 and a 32nd Degree member of The Scottish Rite.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Gardner Lineback.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Chris Lineback and wife, Heather Calhoun Lineback, Michael Lineback and girlfriend, Crystle Benitez; grandchildren Marc Lineback, Martha Lineback Breitzam, Aspen Johnson, Conor Kane, and Veronica Benitez.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Nate Ware officiating. Masonic Service will precede the Celebration of Life Service conducted by the Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688.
