GATE CITY, VA - Bobby J. George, 86, Gate City, VA, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Bobby was born on March 16, 1938, in Scott County, VA, to the late Herbert and Una George.
Bobby was a deacon of First Baptist Church of Gate City and later was a founding member and deacon of Community Fellowship Baptist Church Gate City, VA.
Bobby retired from AFG Glass after 42 years of service.
In addition to his parents, his wife Opal preceded him in death in 2021, and his sister, Nina Faye George in 1985.
Surviving him are his daughter, Carla George; daughter in love, Connie Hale, Christiansburg, VA; son, Allen (Cheryl), Gate City, VA; grandsons, Matthew (Lauren), Mt. Carmel, TN, and David George, Gate City, VA; great-granddaughter, Adalyn George, whom he adored; brothers, Dennis George, Nickelsville, VA, Paul (Jewell) George, Kingsport, TN; special niece, Betsy Gibson, Gate City, VA; niece, Paula (Derrick) Browder, Kingsport, TN; special friends, Roger Peters, Gate City, VA, Bill and Priscilla Pendleton, Gate City, VA, and Pat and Julie Fuller, Gate City, VA.
The family will receive friends from 1-3p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 3:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Disaster relief from Hurricane Helene C/O Grace Point Fellowship P.O. Box 6629 Kpt. TN, 37663, or charity of your choice.
