Carol Archer September 20, 2024
BLOUNTVILLE - Carol Archer, age 89, of Blountville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 20, 2024, after a brief illness.
Born in Knoxville TN, a daughter of the late Warren "Doc" and Dorothy Simmons, she has resided in this area her entire life. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN with a degree in Education. She was a retired teacher from Sullivan County teaching at Blountville Junior High and Sullivan Central High School with 40 years of service. Memberships in clubs, organizations and special achievements: Jonesborough Riding Club. She was previously married to G.B Archer.
She will be remembered as a dedicated educator teaching mostly in Sullivan County. She taught freshman English at Blountville Jr. High and then later at Sullivan Central High. She was frequently teased about knowing everyone in Sullivan County. It was not unusual for her to run into former students recognizing them from many years ago. They recognized her too, which was always a thrill for her. She was a dog and horse lover her entire life, demonstrated by her home in the Holston Community of over 60 years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alicia Hodge and her family for their compassion and care for Carol in the past year.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Simmons.
Survivors include her daughters, Kay Fleming of Roseville, CA and Connie Archer of Atlanta, GA.; son, Michael Archer of Marlton, NJ.; three grandchildren, Dylan and Griffin Fleming, and Nicholas Archer.
No service is scheduled. Inurnment will follow family services at the Patton-Simmons Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Wheeler United Methodist Church Child Care, 211 Sanders St., Blountville, TN 37617.
