I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith
The Matriarch of our family, Carrie Jane Webster age 90, passed away on June 9, 2025 in the Johnson City Medical Center into the Arms of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, with her loving family around her. She was saved at a young age and kept her faith until the end. She and her husband Joe worked tirelessly together on the farm all their life. She loved working in her flowers, gardening & preserving what she grew. She loved sewing and making clothes for her children, crocheting, embroidery, quilting (she made all of us a quilt), crafts, crossword puzzles, and cooking. She was an excellent cook. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Surgoinsville.
She was the eighth of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mid and Emma Simpson; husband, Joe Webster; sisters Bertha Crawford (Branch), Fannie Housewright (Clint), Evelyn Christian Templeton (Elmo, Herbie), Betty Manis( Eugene); brothers, Joe Simpson (Lillie), Willie Simpson (Mary), Herbert Simpson (Unive) and Jim Simpson; sisters-in-law; Helen Wallace, Lucille Smith, Judy Carey, Katherine Cupp, and Ruby Hunley; father and mother-in-law, Dixie and Hattie Webster; brother-in-Law, Jim Webster; and best friend, Mary Rimer.
She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Redwine (Ronnie), Tammy Jo Webster (also her care giver); son, Phillip Webster (Angie); four grandsons, Brandon (Becca), and Patrick Redwine, Jarred (Kelsey) and Seth Webster; one granddaughter, Rhonda Redwine Salyer (Robbie); great grandchildren, Lillie and Chloe Redwine, Emerald Webster (mamaw's little buddy), Parker Salyer, Justin Coates, Bridgette Tyson (Derek), Molly Murdock (Eben); great-great grandchildren, Kiley Coates, Ruby Browder, Declan and Junie Murdock; sisters-in-law, Mary Etta Simpson, Rita Morris; good friend, Nancy Ward; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hawkins County EMS, Hawkins County Memorial and Johnson City Medical Center staff for all their care and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Stephen Adams officiating and Allen Bradley providing music. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Brandon, Patrick, Jarred, Seth, Robbie and Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Fraley, Rick Hunley, Ronnie Redwine, Terry Rimer, Justin Coates, Dewayne Simpson and J.D. Snodgrass.
