GATE CITY, VA - Cathy Jean Baldwin, age 69, Gate City, VA, peacefully passed away, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Cathy was a very talented and avid quilter who had created hundreds of projects over the years for so many of her family and friends.

Cathy was born on January 3, 1955, in Kingsport, TN, and was the daughter of the late Wayne and Eula Mae Jennings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael Wayne Jennings.

Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Robert Lynn Baldwin; daughters, Sandra Gray (Scott), Rebecca Vermillion; sister, Linda Babb (Ronnie); brothers, Larry Jennings (Glenna), and Keith Jennings; grandchildren, Kayla Gillenwater (Jon), Ashley Hoke (Cody), Evan Gray (Casey), Alex Vermillion (Traci), Taylor Gray (Bailey), Dylan Gray, Jessica Vermillion; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lillie, Luna, Ophelia, Sophie, and Augustus; and special aunt, Joan Wilder; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jeff DeBoard and Rev. Scottie Vermillion officiating. Michelle Jenkins will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Baldwin Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:30p.m., for the graveside service.
