KINGSPORT - Chad L. Harris, 52, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, after suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. Chad graduated from Sullivan South HS in 1989. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in May 1995 from Tennessee Tech University. He worked briefly for Milliken in Barnwell, SC, before battling the devastating effects of schizoaffective disorder. Although each day was a challenge for him, he faced the trials of this formidable physical disease with strength and resiliency. He will not only be remembered for his kindness, humor, and love of music, but also for the courage to confront the struggles of mental health.
In recognizing the physical nature of this battle, there is hope that mental illness will be destigmatized, and compassion will be extended to others facing similar trials.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patsy Harris; grandfathers, Robert Harris and Bert Littleton; grandmothers, Lucille Harris and Velva Littleton.
He is survived by his sister, Christy Sproles and her husband, Andy; nephew, Riley; niece, Maddie.
