RYE COVE, VA - Clarence Cassell, age 81 of Rye Cove Community, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness on Monday evening, October 16, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a son to the late Harvey Jasper and Oakie Mae Watson Cassell. Clarence was a U. S. Army Veteran. He was a retired electrician with the Scott County School System. He also served on the Nickelsville Life Saving Crew for many years and attended Rye Cove UMC. Others to precede him are his daughter, Lisa Davis; son, Michael Cassell; sisters, Mary Depew and Jeanete Childress; brothers, Charlie, Paul, Hughie, Roy, Doyle and Emory Cassell.
Clarence is survived by his wife, June Rollins Cassell; daughter, Rhonda Ray (Gregory); two step sons, Mark Rollins (Trina) and Chris Rollins (Olivia); grandchildren, Scott Cassell (Shaila), Jeffery Cassell, Jessica Alrcon (Lyle), Hughie Rhoton and Tyler Lumpkins (Tonisha); step grandchildren, Chase Rollins (Abby), Kyle Robbins (Abigail), Will Rollins and Elizabeth Rollins, Piper Anastatia, Saphira Lumpkins, Raelynn Cassell, Aaron and Alison Alrcon; sister, Virgie Wallen; brothers, Bill Cassell (Louella), Larry Cassell; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 20, 2023 at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA from
5 -7 PM. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mack Daugherty, Rev. Johnny Angel and Rev. Ray Dockery officiating. Music will be provided by Olivia and Elizabeth Rollins. Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Gregory Ray and Devin Dishner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Cassell, Hank Cassell, Richard Dishner and Doug Dockery. Military Graveside Service will be conducted by American Legion Post #265 Saturday October 21, 2023 at Rollins Cemetery (Rye Cove) at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.
Memorial contributions, flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses in the 5th floor ICU at HVMC and Ricky Dishner.

Clarence was a great man . He was always willing to help anyone that he could . He was loved and will be missed by many . To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord . We will all meet one day soon and what a reunion that will be .Prayers for strength peace and comfort for the family today and the days ahead .
