MONROE, NC - Cynthia K. Mitchell, 78, a former resident of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Monroe, NC.

She was born March 21, 1947, in Kingsport, TN to the late Bernie "Doc" and Ruth Ketron.

Cynthia was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who made family her main priority.

Growing up, she was active in the Girl Scouts where she received their highest honor, "The Curved Bar Award."

She was a 1965 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.

Cynthia was a committed Christian and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC.

Cynthia retired from American Airlines as a flight attendant following twelve years of service.

Following retirement, she was active in ministry at the Smoke Rise Community Church in Butler, NJ serving as the children's music director and singing in the sanctuary choir.

Her favorite past times were spent cooking and gardening.

In addition to Cynthia's parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Philip Ketron.

Those left to cherish Cynthia's memory are her husband of fifty-one years, John Mitchell; sons, Kent Mitchell (Ann), and Reed Mitchell (Courtney); grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell, Vivian Mitchell, Evelyn Mitchell, and Grace Mitchell; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 14, 2025, from 12:30-2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

Graveside Service will follow at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 302 East Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
