CHURCH HILL – Danny Mac Mayo, 73, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, following a brief illness with his family by his side.
Danny was born in Hawkins Co. on November 29, 1949, to his late parents, Ransom, & Lena Mayo. He was of the Baptist faith & was a member at Stateline Baptist Church. Danny was an operator for AFG & retired after 40+ years of service. He & his beautiful wife, Linda loved to travel, & their favorite place to go was Edisto Beach; sometimes by themselves, & sometimes with family & over the years made memories that will last a lifetime. He was an avid golfer, & he & Linda played & visited courses all over. Danny was a loving son, & devoted husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Hammonds.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Linda Mayo; daughter, Sheila Morelock; son, Chris Mayo; grandchildren, Amber Griffin, Brittany Begley (Lynn), & Hunter Mayo; great-grandchildren, Oakley, Alonna, Jocelyn, Madelyn, Landry, & Greyson; sisters, Betty Goins (Jack), Kathy Trout; special neighbors, Fred & Ruth Higgins; special friends, Gary & Usley Littleton; several nieces & nephews; as well as many extended family members, church family, & dear friends.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the nurses & staff at Wilcox Hall, & Amedysis Hospice for their love and care. And a very special thanks to Summer Ledford for being there for Danny when we needed her.
A visitation will be held from 5 - 7PM on Sun., November 19, 2023, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Morelock officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Mon., November 20, 2023, at Carters Valley Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 AM to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Littleton, Lynn Begley, Hunter Mayo, Brad Cole, Dean Armstrong, Greg Brown, Scott Goins, & John Goins. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Higgins, Buck Watson, Wayne Cole, Jack Goins, Billy Housewright, & Carl Oaks. Family & friends are welcome to visit anytime at Chris's home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Carters Valley Cemetery Fund, C/O Gale McCullough, 1659 Carters Valley Rd. Surgoinsville, TN 37873.
