On Friday, May 26, 2023, David Grant Brumit, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 81. David was born on July 9, 1941in Washington County, Tennessee to David and Vaniece Brumit. He worked at Eastman Chemical Company as an artist for 20 years and left to open his own business, Mountaineer Landscaping and pursue his passion for the outdoors.
David attended Springdale Missionary Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and shared his testimony and bible verses daily. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and truly believed a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Decatur and Vaniece Rowland; and brother, Pastor Art Brumit.
David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Taylor Brumit; daughter, Julie Brumit; grandson, R.J. Brumit; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 1 – 3pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Springdale Missionary Baptist Church. Services followed with Pastor Alan Buckles officiating. A graveside service was held at 1pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be R.J. Brumit, Art Brumit, Jr., Bob Brumit, David Brumit, Caleb Brumit, and Joshua Brumit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Springdale Missionary Baptist Church, 1616 Haga Road, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
