Debra Babst Obituary

Debra Babst
May 29, 1958 - January 27, 2026
Debra Jean Babst (Debbie) age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 29, 1958, in Wenatchee, WA, to Joanne and Charles Lawhead, where she was the youngest of five siblings.
Debbie grew up in Wenatchee, where she enjoyed riding her bike through the neighborhoods, swimming in her pool, camping and spending endless time with friends and family. She lived just up the road from her high school sweetheart, John Babst, who would later become her husband and lifelong partner. Together they had three children, daughter, Angela Blaufuss; son-in-law, Justin; son, Ryan Babst; son, Jordan Babst, daughter-in-law Karen.
She was the heart of her family and found her greatest joy in being "Grandma" to her nine beloved grandchildren, whom she adored endlessly and spoiled without hesitation.
Many knew Debbie as everyone's favorite barista at Starbucks, where she formed countless friendships and made each person feel special, often with a nickname and a warm smile that could brighten any day. She carried that same charm, kindness, and welcoming spirit into her time at Vision Source, where customers quickly grew to love her as much as she loved them.
Debbie cherished time spent shopping at antique malls, yard sales, going out to different restaurants, seeing spooky movies, gathering with family, and traveling to Idaho to visit family. Music was always playing in her world, if an upbeat song came on the radio, you could be sure she was turning it up to dance and sing along. She lived life with joy, grace, and an infectious energy that lifted everyone around her.
Even in the final chapter of her life, she remained a shining light. She faced each day with strength, a radiant smile, and the same warmth that defined her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ryan Babst; brother-in-law, Thomas Babst; and her parents, Joanne and Charles Lawhead.
Debbie's legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the friendships she nurtured, and the light she brought into every room. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
