Dennis McMillan March 9, 1949- June 26, 2024
KINGSPORT - Dennis McMillan, 75, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2024. He was a friend to many and always willing to lend a hand. A graduate of ETSU and a member of the National Guard, he spent most of his career in the auto parts business. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a love for drag racing and working on race cars.
Dennis is survived by his son Brian McMillan (Heather) of Cape Girardeau, Mo., grandson Ethan McMillan of Cape Girardeau, sister Carolyn Newman (Chuck) of Orlando, Fla., former brother-in-law Larry (Debbie) Calhoun of Kingsport, nephews Chad Newman (Dzi) of Orlando and Justin Calhoun (Erin) of Gray, and nieces Cheryl Bairley (Tom) of Gainesville, Fla., and Heather Calhoun (Chris Lineback) of Oak Ridge, Tenn., as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Eula (McCurry) McMillan of Kingsport, his former spouse and friend - Paula McMillan, and his brother Bill Robinson.
The family extends the most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Brenda Dean, Dennis's cousin, who was a caregiver, a chauffeur, a helper with countless tasks and activities, and above all, a wonderful friend to him during his final years.
A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Saturday, June 29, at Pactolus United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pactolus United Methodist Church, 170 Pactolus Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.

Dennis was a neighbor and a distant cousin. We grew up in the neighborhood playing games together, including basketball, baseball, football, and anything else that was competitive and where we could recruit enough neighborhood kids to have a couple of teams. We always enjoyed each other's company. Sorry to hear about Dennis's passing but I'm sure that he will be missed by all of his family and friends, of which there are many. I'm also confident that we will meet again. To Caroline and other close relatives, our prayers are with you. May the peace of God be with you.

Dennis and I have been friends since our Cub Scout days. We went all through grade school and high school together. We had a lot of good times together. His dad was a dear friend of mine in later years. May you walk with God Dennis. Goodbye old friend.
