KINGSPORT - Donald J. Gilbert, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Holston Valley Hospital after a period of declining health.
Mr. Gilbert enjoyed drag racing and won a few races. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rita Fezzie Gilbert; sister, Marsha Gilbert; mother-in-law, Carrie Woodard and sister-in-law, JoAnn Gilbert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Patsy Woodard Gilbert; son, Ben Thompson; granddaughter Katie Fleenor and husband, Taylor; brother, Ward Gilbert and cousin, Jay Guisti and wife, Linda.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 6:45 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Tommy Haynes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospital, via mail, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or online at www.shrinerschildren.org
