GATE CITY, VA - Edward "Eddie" Lynn Spivey, 78, went to join the Lord, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Eddie, as he was known by most people, was born August 19, 1946, and was the son of the late Sylvester "Bill" and Ama Lee (Williams) Spivey.

Dad was a great father and grandfather and while he only had 2 biological children and 2 grandkids, he had dozens of kids and grandkids.

His favorite thing in life was his faith and devotion to his Lord, the many children that called him pops or papaw, fishing and his friends. He was genuine and kind, bringing a joyful smile to every room he entered.

His strengths were showing people the Lord's love, and his unselfish nature helping friends.

Dad never met a stranger. Whenever we were out together sometimes, we didn't get an introduction because he did not always remember the hundreds of names floating in his beautiful mind and heart.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Adam Dwight Spivey and Jason Alan Spivey, grandchildren, Whitney Marie Spivey and Jonathan Reece Ward, Kevin Lynn Spivey and Gloria Salisbury, Michaela Cooley and Tanner, Cody Carter, Jacob Carter, Miliah Rhoton, Nathaniel "Bub" Rhoton, Emily Salyer, Aaron Lane, Gracie Rhoton, and Josh Rhoton, great grandchildren, Kean Lynn Cantrell, Oaklynn Reece Ward, River Saint Ward, Jaylynn Spivey, Amelia Marie Keeler, along with so many others, and his sister, Phyllis Ann Spivey-Still and husband, Charlie.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Casteel, and Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.
